We have all been there - we have something to do, we have the time to do it, and yet we simply cannot focus our minds to get it done.

Here are some ideas to bring some focus to what you need to accomplish.

  • Identify distractions, then resist them: The world we live in is full of distractions, everyone wants our attention. Identify what is trying to distract you - kids, co-workers, your phone - then decide to ignore them.

  • Stop multitasking and start monotasking. Do one thing at a time to do everything better. While it is pleasurable to watch TV while try to do your work on your laptop, this and other multitasking combinations most likely will lead to losing focus.

  • Break the task down. Sometimes our resistance to starting a task or project is the perceived enormity of it. Break it into small steps, then work your way through them one at a time. Take breaks between the smaller tasks if you need them.

These are just a few tips to help you focus when you need it most.
